Summary: Despite being easily preventable, diabetes mellitus is still prevalent in populations worldwide. This study found a comparatively low prevalence of diabetes mellitus among government employees in rural pastoral areas of Southern Ethiopia. Age, salt consumption, frequency of vegetable and fruit intake, hypertension, and family history of diabetes were significantly associated with diabetes mellitus.
