Application of Box-Behnken Design in the Preparation, Optimization, and In-Vivo Pharmacokinetic Evaluation of Oral Tadalafil-Loaded Niosomal Film

Kawthar K. Abla et al.

Summary: This study developed and evaluated an oral fast dissolving film containing tadalafil-loaded niosomes for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The optimized niosomes showed high entrapment efficiency and the film had desirable characteristics. The tadalafil-loaded niosomal film demonstrated faster release and enhanced bioavailability compared to the marketed tablet.

Research progress and clinical evaluation of histotripsy: a narrative review

Shuaiqi Li et al.

Summary: This paper aims to explain the mechanism of histotripsy, summarize the research progress of animal models for clinical evaluation and application, and analyze the advantages and limitations of histotripsy. Histotripsy is a noninvasive, nonionizing, nonthermal ablation technique. Significant progress has been made in the clinical application of histotripsy in the treatment of liver tumors, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and aortic valve calcification stenosis.

Deciphering anti-benign prostatic hyperplasia potential of liangwanoside II based on metabolite profile characterization combined with targeted network pharmacology

Li Fan et al.

Summary: This study revealed the anti-benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) potential of liangwanoside II through in vivo experiments. Liangwanoside II showed anti-BPH effects by reducing prostate weight, prostate index, and serum prostatic acid phosphatase level, and improving prostate tissue morphology. Metabolite profile characterization and targeted network pharmacology provided insights into the mechanism of action, suggesting that liangwanoside II and its metabolites inhibit inflammation reaction and hormone imbalance, reduce oxidative stress damage, and restore the balance between cell proliferation and apoptosis.

The mechanism of Lingze tablets in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia based on network pharmacology and molecular docking technology

Chen Shaofeng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the mechanism of Lingze tablets in the treatment of BPH through network pharmacology and molecular docking technology. It was found that the tablets regulate disease targets like SRC, MAPK1, PIK3CA, and JAK2, intervening in biological processes such as cell migration, cell activity, cytokine secretion, protein phosphorylation, and signaling pathways like MAPK, transferase activity and PI3K/AKT in the treatment of BPH.

Inhibitory Effect of Astaxanthin on Testosterone-Induced Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia in Rats

Liping Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that astaxanthin (AST) may have an inhibitory effect on testosterone-induced benign prostatic hyperplasia in rats by regulating superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels.

Current surgical procedures for benign prostatic hyperplasia and impression of new surgical modalities

Abdullah M. Al Khayal et al.

Summary: The study found that TURP remains the main intervention for prostate sizes <100 g in Saudi Arabia, while open prostatectomy is widely used for prostate sizes more than 100 g. New modalities have gained little acceptance among urologists practicing in the country. Hands-on workshops may help in educating urologists and introducing these new modalities for future use.
