Sound radiation and non-negative intensity of a metaplate consisting of an acoustic black hole plus local resonators

Jie Deng et al.

Summary: Attaching periodic local resonators to form a metamaterial acoustic black hole (MMABH) plate can effectively suppress low-to high -frequency sound radiation. The MMABH can substantially reduce sound radiation at all frequencies thanks to the combination of bandgaps and the slowing down of supersonic bending waves.

Multi-level curvature-based parametrization and model updating using a 3D full-field response

Klemen Zaletelj et al.

Summary: Model updating improves the correlation between the real structure response and the finite-element model response. The selection of updating parameters is crucial for success. Full-field modal shapes can update a large number of parameters, but the structural response may not be sensitive to arbitrary parameters, and computation of the full sensitivity matrix is not feasible for large FE models. This research investigates updating parameters based on the curvature of 3D experimental shape, and successfully applies the proposed method to numerical and real experiments.

Reconstruction of the sound radiation field from flexural vibration measurements with multiple cameras

P. Gardonio et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new approach to reconstruct the sound radiation field produced by the flexural vibration of a distributed structure using video image acquisitions. The study focuses on tonal flexural vibration and sound radiation at specific resonance frequencies. The vibration and radiation fields are estimated using triangulation from images acquired with six cameras, and compared with measurements from a laser vibrometer and an array of microphones.

Event-Based Vision: A Survey

Guillermo Gallego et al.

Summary: This paper provides a comprehensive overview of event-based vision, focusing on the applications and algorithms developed for event cameras. Event cameras differ from traditional cameras in their asynchronous measurement of per-pixel brightness changes, offering high temporal resolution, very high dynamic range, low power consumption, and high pixel bandwidth. The paper discusses techniques for processing events, including learning-based methods and specialized processors. It also highlights the remaining challenges and opportunities in the field of bio-inspired perception and interaction for machines.

Free-field sound radiation measurement with multiple synchronous cameras

Paolo Gardonio et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the possibility of using photogrammetry to obtain the sound radiation into free-field from flexural vibrations of distributed thin structures. By tracking the flexural vibrations at a regular grid of target points, the sound radiation into free-field can be derived from the Rayleigh integral. The study shows that utilizing the Rayleigh integral formulation can provide a more accurate estimate of the radiated sound field despite the vibration measurement errors produced by image pixelization in the cameras.

Still-camera multiview Spectral Optical Flow Imaging for 3D operating-deflection-shape identification

Domen Gorjup et al.

Summary: Image-based displacement measurement methods have been widely recognized for their practical advantages, and advances in high-speed imaging technology and video processing have helped overcome many shortcomings. Multi-camera measurements can improve signal-to-noise ratio, while identifying displacements in the frequency domain directly on the camera sensor can significantly reduce data sizes and post-processing times.
