Nonlinear analysis of a dual-disk rotor system considering elastoplastic contact

Runchao Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a modified contact model for the gas turbine rotor system, which considers the effect of elastoplastic deformation and is compared with verified experimental results. By introducing an equivalent material layer, a finite element model is established and the dynamic response of the rotor system is solved using the Newmark-fl method. The results show that the proposed contact model accurately reflects the actual contact state and the preload amount leads to the appearance of multiple combined frequency components.

Study on Fretting Wear of Contact Interface of Curvic Coupling for Circumferential Rod Combined Rotor

Lihua Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of bolt preload, torque, and transverse vibration on the fretting characteristics of curvic coupling in a combined rotor gas turbine using the finite-element method and Archard wear theory. The influences of a single mistuned tie rod and the material properties on the fretting characteristics are also examined. The results show that increasing the preload and torque leads to higher contact stress, slide distance, and wear depth. Mistuning in a single rod causes uneven distribution of fretting characteristics. Additionally, the elastic modulus has a notable impact on the fretting characteristics, compared to Poisson's ratio and density. The simulation results are consistent with the experimental findings.

Influence of imperfections on the stability of a multi-disc friction system

Alexy Mercier et al.

Summary: This paper studies the impact of geometrical imperfections on the stability and dynamic behavior of mechanical systems exhibiting friction-induced vibrations. It introduces a new phenomenological mechanical model that considers geometrical imperfections and examines their influence on the system's stability. The study finds that the inclusion of these imperfections leads to the emergence of a non-autonomous dynamical system, significantly affecting the system's stability and dynamic behavior.

Runchao Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a design method for scaled rotor systems based on dynamic similarity and restricted support stiffness. Key optimization parameters and ranges are determined through sensitivity analysis, and a genetic algorithm is used to establish a geometrically distorted scaled model to optimize rotor performance. Experimental results show that this design method can accurately predict the dynamic characteristics of the prototype rotor.

Multi-stage contact model between fractal rough surfaces based on multi-scale asperity deformation

Xin Yu et al.

Summary: A novel multi-stage contact model of fractal rough surfaces is proposed in this paper. The contact behavior of the whole surface is distinguished into five stages based on the deformation modes of multi-scale asperities. The relationship between contact force, normal stiffness, and real contact area under the effects of fractal factors is analyzed, and the developed model is compared with other models and experimental data.

Summary: Independent vibrations in nonlinear systems are advantageous for vibration isolation. In this research, a sequence of odd-order independent subharmonic vibrations in a nonlinear flexible rotor system is studied. The stability and bifurcations of the vibrations are discussed, and it is found that the vibrations can effectively suppress global synchronous vibrations.

Establishment of a contact stiffness matrix and its effect on the dynamic behavior of rod-fastening rotor bearing system

Xianglin Wu et al.

Summary: The study established a dynamic model of the rod-fastening rotor-bearing system and analyzed the influence of various factors on the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the system. The results showed that increasing the pre-tightening load can increase contact stiffness, while increasing rod diameter can delay partial separation of contact surfaces. Uneven pre-tightening load significantly affects the fluctuation of stiffness coefficients and can lead to self-excited vibration frequencies. The number of rods, rod diameter, and contact surface roughness also impact the system's dynamic characteristics.

A three-dimensional fractal model of the normal contact characteristics of two contacting rough surfaces

Guosheng Lan et al.

Summary: A new model of asperity elastic-plastic contact is proposed in this study, supported by an analytical model of normal contact stiffness and damping considering the influence of contact area distribution and elastoplastic deformation mechanism. Through numerical simulations, the impact of factors such as normal contact load, fractal dimension, fractal roughness, and plastic index on the joint surface's normal contact stiffness and damping is analyzed. Comparison with different models demonstrates that the elastoplastic contact deformation mechanism significantly affects the results, with greater normal contact stiffness and damping when considering the elastoplastic deformation mechanism.
