Deterministic and stochastic analysis of a two-prey-one-predator system with fear effect and switching behaviour in predation

Amartya Das et al.

Summary: In this article, a two-prey-one-predator system is analyzed, with the predator feeding on the more abundant prey species and the reproduction of both prey species greatly reduced by the presence of the predator. The goal is to investigate the dynamical characteristics of the system in both deterministic and stochastic environments by analyzing the basic properties of the deterministic system and deriving stability conditions at various equilibrium points. The impact of parameter fluctuations on the model dynamics is studied using local bifurcation analysis, and the proposed model is also studied in a fluctuating environment by considering stochastic death rates for each species. The mathematical findings are justified and illustrated through numerical simulations.

Impact of fear in a delay-induced predator-prey system with intraspecific competition within predator species

Bijoy Kumar Das et al.

Summary: In theoretical ecology, predator-prey interactions play a crucial role in shaping community structure and maintaining ecological diversity. The introduction of perceived fear cost in predator-prey models impacts the birth and death rates of prey species and can alter their physiological behavior. Additionally, considering intraspecific competition in predator species and a gestation delay in models can lead to more realistic and natural dynamics.

Individual specialization and generalization in predator-prey dynamics: The determinant role of predation efficiency and prey reproductive rates

Gui Araujo et al.

Summary: Individual specialization and generalization refer to the breadth of prey types consumed by predators among all available prey. This study used a dynamical model to analyze the viability of individual foraging strategies. The results showed that the relative prey fertility and relative efficiency of predation determined the success of specialists and generalists.

Impact of Fear Effect in a Two Prey-One Predator System with Switching Behaviour in Predation

Debgopal Sahoo et al.

Summary: Research shows that predators can change their predation behavior based on the abundance of prey populations, while fear of predators can reduce the reproduction of prey populations. By incorporating fear costs and predation switching mechanisms into the model, multiple steady states exist and fear parameters cause transcritical bifurcation in the system.

Comparison between two tritrophic food chain models with multiple delays and anti-predation effect

Debgopal Sahoo et al.

Summary: Research shows predator-prey interaction is not only influenced by direct hunting, but also by indirect factors such as fear effect. Incorporating anti-predation response and multiple time delays in a tritrophic food chain model can affect population dynamics and stability. The model system may switch stability through Hopf-bifurcation due to delay parameters.
