The role of microfinance on socioeconomic well-being has become a buzzword in the economic credit market. The underlying logic is that by extending financial services to low income people especially women, they will be able to participate in economic market through forming their small businesses and consequently generate income. Yet, the impact still varies from one country to others due to microfinance work differently according to the economic, culture and environment. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the impact of Amanah lkhtiar Malaysia (AIM) on women livelihood with main focus on household income in the urban Selangor province. A cross sectional survey was interviewed with 240 of old clients and 100 of new clients, while the stratified random sampling was used to collect the data. The result of multinomial logit suggests that AIM has positive impact on women household income in urban areas.
