Observation of dielectric dispersion and relaxation behavior in Ni2+-substituted cobalt ferrite nanoparticles

K. M. Srinivasamurthy et al.

Summary: This study investigated the structural, electronic, magnetic, and dielectric properties of novel ferrite (CNF) Co1-xNixFe2O4 (x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1.0) nanoparticles synthesized via a low-cost combustion synthesis technique. The results confirmed the formation of single-phase ferrite with a cubic spinel structure. The electrical properties exhibited dispersion behavior associated with interfacial polarization mechanism and charge carrier hopping. DFT calculations supported the experimental findings and indicated a ferrimagnetic ground state with increased band gap and decreased dielectric constant as the amount of Ni increased. The low dielectric loss of CNF with Ni2+ substitution at higher frequencies makes it a promising candidate for energy-harvesting devices in the electronics industry.

Enhanced efficiency of organic solar cells by using a ZnO-Fe2O3 electron transport layer

Zhennan Tian et al.

Summary: In this study, a ZnO-Fe2O3 thin film was used as the electron transport layer for organic solar cells (OSCs). The results showed that the composite ZnO-Fe2O3-based OSCs had higher power conversion efficiency than pure ZnO-based OSCs. The analysis of the morphology and properties of the ZnO-Fe2O3 layer revealed that it had a denser structure and lower surface roughness, which allowed for better contact with the active layer and improved electron mobility.

Summary: La0.67Ca0.20Ba0.13Fe1-xMnxO3 (x = 0.0, 0.03, and 0.06) nanostructured perovskites synthesized by auto-combustion were studied. The increase of Mn content leads to a decrease in crystallite and particle size, as well as a reduction in magnetization and the presence of oxygen deficiencies.

DFT Calculations for Structural, Electronic, and Magnetic Properties of ZnFe2O4 Spinel Oxide: The Role of Exchange-Correlation Functional

Anivaldo Ferreira de Rezende et al.

Summary: Quantum-mechanical calculations within the Density Functional Theory framework were used in this study to investigate the impact of exchange-correlation functional on the properties of ZnFe2O4. The results indicate that the WC1LYP functional with a 16% exact HF exchange fraction showed the best performance in describing the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of the material. This study highlights the importance of utilizing hybrid HF/DFT methods with controlled HF term contribution in understanding strongly correlated materials.

Indium free hybrid system of getting power conversion efficiency of dye sensitized solar cell fabricated using calcium ferrites on photoanode

Neha Patni et al.

Summary: This study focused on the photovoltaic properties of dye sensitised solar cells using fluoride doped tin oxide and aluminium doped zinc oxide glass substrates. It utilized betalain and chlorophyll as dyes, polyaniline and iodide-triiodide couple as electrolyte, and Zr-Co co-substituted calcium hexaferrites on the photoanode. The highest power conversion efficiency observed was 3.20%, suggesting a promising approach to fabricating efficient, indium-free, and hybrid dye sensitised solar cells.
