The influence of ?-fibre texture on the grain boundary character distribution of an IF-steel

Hossein Beladi et al.

Summary: The current study reveals that the development of gamma-fibre texture in IF steel through static recrystallization alters the distribution of grain boundary misorientations and plane orientations. As the intensity of the gamma-fibre texture increases, there is a shift in the maximum grain boundary plane distribution and an increase in low angle boundary population.

The influence of processing and texture on the grain boundary character distribution of an austenitic Ni-30Fe alloy

Hossein Beladi et al.

Summary: The effect of processing route on the texture and grain boundary network characteristics of austenitic Ni-30Fe alloy was investigated. It was found that the processing route determined the microstructure evolution mechanism, which influenced the overall texture and grain boundary network characteristics. The cast material exhibited isolated and lower relative areas of E3 and E9 boundaries, indicating their formation through accidental impingement of randomly oriented nuclei during solidification.

The influence of parent austenite characteristics on the intervariant boundary network in a lath martensitic steel

Ahmad Mirzaei et al.

Summary: The influence of parent austenite deformation state on lath martensitic microstructure was examined in this study, revealing significant changes in boundary network connectivity and distribution. Manipulating the intervariant boundary network of lath martensite through changes in parent austenite deformation state can enhance key final product properties.

On the propensity of lath martensite intervariant boundaries to hydrogen absorption using molecular statics simulation

Ahmad Mirzaei et al.

Summary: This study investigates for the first time the influence of boundary character on hydrogen absorption in lath martensite using molecular statics simulations. The findings show that the energy of the boundary is not the main factor affecting hydrogen absorption. Rather, absorption depends on the arrangement of unit structures within the boundary plane and the number of interstitial sites available for hydrogen.

Effect of manganese on the grain boundary network of lath martensite in precipitation hardenable stainless steels

Vinothkumar Govindaraj et al.

Summary: The addition of manganese was found to influence the grain boundary network characteristics of the steel, particularly by reducing the area of boundaries with misorientations near 60 degrees. The changes in grain boundary connectivity and the promotion of the appearance of 60 degrees/[111] intervariant boundaries were observed due to the manganese addition in the martensitic transformation process.
