Manipulating the phonon transport towards reducing thermal conductivity via replacement of Cu by Mn in Cu2SnSe3 thermoelectric system

K. Gurukrishna et al.

Summary: This study aims to optimize the thermal transport and analyze the thermoelectric behavior of the Cu2-xMnxSnSe3 system by substituting Cu with Mn. Experimental results confirm the existence of hole-like small polarons as thermally activated carriers at high temperatures and the dominance of variable range hopping mechanism for conduction at low temperatures. Mn doping improves the Seebeck coefficient and reduces the thermal conductivity in the samples.

Thermoelectric performance of binary lithium-based compounds: Li3Sb and Li3Bi

Kunling Peng et al.

Summary: The study investigates the thermoelectric transport properties of binary lithium-based compounds Li3Sb and Li3Bi, indicating their potential as promising thermoelectrics despite low zTs. Experimental data analysis suggests that both compounds have good electronic quality factor B-E, leading to predicted peak zT values above 0.7 and 1.2 at 800K for Li3Sb and Li3Bi, respectively. Additionally, electronic band structure and phonon dispersion of Li3Sb are calculated through first principles, offering insights into their crystal structure and transport properties.
