Characterization of CuO doped CdO nanomaterials synthesized by sol gel spin coating and hydrothermal method

Tulay Yildiz et al.

Summary: CuO-CdO nanomaterials were synthesized through sol gel spin coating and hydrothermal methods. Thin films and nanopowders of undoped CdO and 0.2%, 0.5%, 1%, and 2% CuO doped CdO were produced and analyzed for their structural, optical, and electrical properties. The results showed that both the thin films and nanopowders had polycrystalline face-centered cubic structures. The thin films exhibited homogeneous and dense rod-shaped structures, while the nanopowders had urchin-like structures composed of spherical nanoparticles.

Structural, optical and dielectric properties of chemical vapor transport based synthesis of rice-like nanostructured cadmium zinc oxide films

I. A. Khan et al.

Summary: Cadmium zinc oxide (Cd-ZnO) films were synthesized on glass substrate by chemical vapor transport technique using 200 sccm argon gas flow rate. The synthesized Cd-ZnO films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), Raman, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and UV spectrometers. The results showed the formation of polycrystalline Cd-ZnO films confirmed by XRD patterns. Raman, FTIR, and SEM analysis confirmed the chemical bonding and substitution of Cd+ into ZnO. The optical, electrical, and dielectric parameters of the synthesized Cd-ZnO films were strongly influenced by the weights of Cd powder.

Electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility of substoichiometric CdO and In doped CdO films

M. A. Awad et al.

Summary: Undoped and In-doped substoichiometric CdO nanostructured films were prepared via vapor transport method, with undoped CdO sample showing net-like assemblies of nanowires and In-doped CdO sample displaying a regular morphology of equally shaped grains. The room temperature electrical resistivity values were found to be 1.56 x 10(2) and 2.31 x 10(-2) omega cm for undoped and In-doped CdO films, respectively. Temperature dependent resistivity measurements revealed semiconducting behavior for undoped CdO films and a semiconductor-metal transition around 367 K for In-doped CdO film, while magnetic susceptibility showed paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic transitions with Néel temperatures of 266 and 308 K for undoped and In-doped CdO samples, respectively.
