Recent Progress in Transition-Metal Sulfide Catalyst Regulation for Improved Oxygen Evolution Reaction

Runze He et al.

Summary: This article systematically and comprehensively reviews the recent advances in electrocatalytic performance and optimization strategies of transition-metal sulfides for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). By optimizing the structure and chemical states, the intrinsic activity of metal sulfides has been enhanced. Challenges and opportunities in further developing high-activity and long-term durable metal sulfide materials are also discussed. Additionally, problems and future challenges in improving the catalytic performance of metal sulfide materials are presented.

Sustainable city concept based on green hydrogen energy

Ibrahim Dincer et al.

Summary: This study investigates the production of green hydrogen in Istanbul using renewable energy sources and electrolyzers. The findings estimate the city's potential for green hydrogen production to be 7.96 Mt, with specific districts such as Catalca, S,ile, Silivri, Arnavutko & BULL;y, and Beykoz having the highest potential. The study highlights the economic value and environmental benefits of green hydrogen production, as well as its potential contribution to achieving carbon neutrality.

Full atomistic mechanism study of hydrogen evolution reaction on Pt surfaces at universal pHs: Ab initio simulations at electrochemical interfaces

Xueping Qin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the pH-dependent behavior of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by constructing a Pt(111)/water interfacial model. The results show that HER follows the Volmer-Tafel/Heyrovsky pathway in acidic media with the second step being the rate-determining step, while it proceeds via the Volmer-Tafel pathway with water dissociation being the rate-determining step in alkaline media. This study provides new insights into the mechanism of HER under different pH conditions.

Using a combination of Co, Mo, and Pt oxides along with graphene nanoribbon and MoSe2 as efficient catalysts for OER and HER

Bibiana K. Martini et al.

Summary: Hydrogen needed for electricity production is stored for around one to four decades, and can be obtained from electrolysers using green energy techniques. Platinum group metals are commonly used to catalyse reactions in fuel cells and electrolysers, with Co and Mo oxides, MoSe2, and graphene nanoribbons being used to develop efficient electrocatalysts for OER and HER.

Recent development in electrocatalysts for hydrogen production through water electrolysis

Shams Anwar et al.

Summary: Hydrogen is a carbon-free alternative energy source for future energy frameworks, offering environmental friendliness and high energy density. Water electrolysis is a sustainable method to produce high purity hydrogen, and developing electrocatalysts for this process is crucial. While precious metals are traditionally used for electrocatalysis, non-precious metal-based electrocatalysts have advantages in cost and eco-friendliness, but further research is needed for their development.
