Study on spray deposited Ni-doped CuO nanostructured thin films: microstructural and optical behavior

A. Abdel-Galil et al.

Summary: In this study, CuO and Ni-doped CuO thin films were successfully deposited on glass substrates using the spray pyrolysis technique. The surface morphology and structure of the films were characterized, revealing a nanocrystalline structure and changes in grain size with Ni doping and electron beam-irradiation. The optical properties, including transmission, absorbance, and reflectance, were measured, showing variations in the optical band gap and absorbance with Ni doping and electron beam-irradiation. Additionally, the J-V characteristics of the device were studied, providing information on the ideality factor and potential barrier height under dark and illuminated conditions.

Summary: In this research, CZTS powder was synthesized using microwave-assisted technique and its optical and structural properties were investigated. The results showed that CZTS has a kesterite structure, with a crystalline and porous surface. The dominant conduction mechanism of CZTS was determined to be hopping through the measurement of AC conductivity.

Preparation and thermoelectric power properties of highly doped p-type Sb2Te3 thin films

A. M. Adam et al.

Summary: This study provides an easy method for growing p-type Bi-doped Sb2Te3 thin films on ceramic substrates using vacuum thermal evaporation technique. The thermoelectric properties of the films, including electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient, were investigated and showed different behaviors as a function of temperature. The power factor was calculated based on these values, with the maximum value obtained for the Sb1.85Bi0.15Te3 thin film sample.

Gas Sensors Based on Localized Surface Plasmon Resonances: Synthesis of Oxide Films with Embedded Metal Nanoparticles, Theory and Simulation, and Sensitivity Enhancement Strategies

Marco S. Rodrigues et al.

Summary: This work provides a comprehensive review of gas sensors utilizing localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), covering the theory of LSPR, synthesis of nanoparticle-embedded oxide thin films, and strategies to enhance sensor sensitivity. The study focuses on the interaction of noble metal nanoparticles with dielectric matrices to push resonance into the visible spectral range and make sensors sensitive to changes in the local environment. Several methods for simulating optical properties and calculating LSPR sensitivity of gold nanoparticles are also discussed.
