Defect assisted Reactive Oxygen Species generation for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue by nano-structured zinc oxide synthesized in CTAB medium

Murali Ramu et al.

Summary: This study reports a facile synthesis of undoped zinc oxide semiconductor nanoparticles and their efficient photocatalytic property towards methylene blue dye degradation. The synthesis method used various aliphatic amines as bases, and the resulting materials were characterized for their structure, morphology, and optical properties. It was found that the choice of aliphatic amine affected both the photodegradation properties and morphology of the undoped ZnO materials. The nanomaterial synthesized with n-butyl amine showed the highest catalytic degradation due to high absorption in the visible region.

SnO2 nanoparticles embedded onto MoS2 nanoflakes- An efficient catalyst for photodegradation of methylene blue and photoreduction of hexavalent chromium

M. Szkoda et al.

Summary: In this study, a molybdenum disulfide/tin oxide (MoS2/SnO2) composite was synthesized using a hydrothermal method and evaluated for its photocatalytic performance in the reduction of hexavalent chromium and degradation of methylene blue. The obtained composite exhibited higher photocatalytic activity compared to pure MoS2, making it one of the most photoactive catalysts for methylene blue photodecomposition. Additionally, the composite demonstrated excellent activity in the photoreduction of chromium (VI). These findings highlight the enormous potential of the MoS2/SnO2 composite in photocatalytic applications.

Tin Oxide (SnO2)-Decorated Reduced Graphene Oxide (rGO)-Based Hydroelectric Cells to Generate Large Current

Aarti et al.

Summary: Nonphotocatalytic water splitting through oxygen-deficient, mesoporous metal oxide design-based hydroelectric cells (HECs) is a well-known phenomenon. In this study, oxygen-deficient mesoporous SnO2 and its composites with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) were used to achieve water splitting. The addition of rGO increased the surface area and peak current of the materials, resulting in a higher power output from the hydroelectric cell.

Photocatalytic properties of SnO2/MoO3 mixed oxides and their relation to the electronic properties and surface acidity

G. C. Assis et al.

Summary: The wet impregnation method was used to synthesize SnO2/MoO3 heterojunctions with different amounts of Mo. The presence of MoO3 as a acidity modulator influenced the photocatalytic performance, highlighting the importance of proper synthesis of these materials. Physical mixture of SnO2+MoO3 showed lower performance values compared to the heterojunction SnO2/MoO3, indicating the significance of synthetic method in photocatalytic studies.
