Tough Transient Ionic Junctions Printed with Ionic Microgels

This study reports the design, fabrication, and characterization of tough transient ionic junctions using 3D ionic microgel printing. 3D Printed, Solid-State Conductive Ionoelastomer as a Generic Building Block for Tactile Applications

Summary: A fast photocurable, solid-state conductive ionoelastomer (SCIE) has been developed for high-resolution 3D printing of arbitrary architectures. The printed building blocks possess high-resolution architectures, good Young's modulus, stretchability, excellent conductivity tolerance in a wide range of temperatures, as well as fine elasticity and antifatigue ability even after long-term loading-unloading cycles. Additionally, the printed building blocks can be programmed into 3D flexible tactile sensors with significantly higher sensitivity than their bulky counterparts.

Electrochemistry meets polymer physics: polymerized ionic liquids on an electrified electrode

On the importance of the electric double layer structure in aqueous electrocatalysis

Polymerized ionic liquids on charged electrodes: New prospects for electrochemistry

Summary: The number of electrochemical applications involving ionic liquids and their polymerized forms is increasing. However, theoretical descriptions of polymeric ionic liquid-based electrochemical systems are lacking compared to monomeric ionic liquid-based systems. In this study, recent studies on basic and applied research of polymeric ionic liquids are briefly outlined, and a theoretical model for the behavior of polymeric ionic liquids and their solutions on charged electrodes is discussed. The obtained capacitance, electrostatic potential, and ionic concentration profiles are summarized, and further development of theoretical descriptions for polymeric ionic liquids is proposed.

Rapidly Photocurable Solid-State Poly(ionic liquid) Ionogels For Thermally Robust and Flexible Electrochromic Devices

Summary: Formation of ionogels through in situ polymerization improves electrolyte processability. Two in situ polymerized ionogels are developed, which can be rapidly photocured and exhibit excellent physicochemical stability. The electrochromic devices assembled using these ionogels show high color contrast, fast response time, and excellent cycling endurance. Additionally, these devices can be operated over a wide temperature range. The technology also enables the realization of flexible and curved electrochromic devices, highlighting their potential use in futuristic wearables.
