Dyslipidemia and the Prevalence of Hypertension: A Cross-Sectional Study Based on Chinese Adults Without Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Wenke Cheng et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between atherosclerotic indices and the prevalence of hypertension in Chinese adults without type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed that atherosclerotic indices were higher in the hypertensive population compared to the normotensive population, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure were positively correlated with these indices. The cholesterol index and non-HDL-C were identified as independent risk factors for hypertension prevalence.

Atherogenic index of plasma as predictors for metabolic syndrome, hypertension and diabetes mellitus in Taiwan citizens: a 9-year longitudinal study

Yen-Wei Li et al.

Summary: The study found that the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) was significantly associated with MetS, hypertension, and T2DM in different genders and age groups, especially prominent in the middle-aged population. For participants aged 40-64, AIP remained significantly correlated with MetS, hypertension, and T2DM even after full adjustment, while for those aged above 65, AIP only showed significant association in the MetS group.

Atherogenic index of plasma is related to coronary atherosclerotic disease in elderly individuals: a cross-sectional study

Haomin Huang et al.

Summary: The study found a positive relationship between Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) and the risk and severity of coronary atherosclerotic disease (CAD) in elderly individuals, particularly in males. AIP was shown to be superior to traditional and other nontraditional lipid profiles in assessing CAD risk in elderly males. Sensitivity analyses excluding emergency cases yielded similar results, further supporting the association between AIP and CAD risk in elderly individuals.
