Is obstructive sleep apnea a circadian rhythm disorder?

Julija Smon et al.

Summary: Obstructive sleep apnea is a common sleep-related breathing disorder that is often underdiagnosed. It is associated with various comorbidities that negatively impact quality of life and increase the risk of death. Recent research suggests that circadian rhythm dysregulation may play a role in the development of these comorbidities. Understanding the relationship between obstructive sleep apnea and circadian rhythm abnormalities could lead to new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Drugs Showing Real-world Efficacy for Nocturia in Patients With Bladder Storage Symptoms

Kazuna Tsubouchi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of drugs prescribed to reduce nocturia in a real-world clinical setting. The results showed that anticholinergic drugs and /33 adrenoceptor agonists were similarly effective in reducing nocturia. In male patients with both storage symptoms and nocturnal polyuria, the combined therapy of desmopressin with anticholinergic drugs and/or /33 adrenoceptor agonists was the most effective method for reducing nocturia.

Effects of fatty acid metabolites on nocturia

Tatsuya Ihara et al.

Summary: Dysregulation of circadian rhythm can cause nocturia. This study investigated the circadian rhythm of fatty acid metabolites and their effect on voiding in mice. The findings highlighted the novel effect of lipids on the pathology of nocturia, which may be used for development of biomarkers and better therapies for nocturia.

Different effects of GsMTx4 on nocturia associated with the circadian clock and Piezo1 expression in mice

Tatsuya Ihara et al.

Summary: The study found that the effects of GsMTx4 on nocturia are dependent on the circadian clock and Piezo1 expression level, with the most significant impact occurring during the sleep phase.
