Machine Learning Guided Dopant Selection for Metal Oxide-Based Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting: The Case Study of Fe2O3 and CuO

Zhiliang Wang et al.

Summary: By using a machine learning model, the authors successfully predicted the doping effect of metal dopants into hematite and identified critical parameters. The model was further validated experimentally and suggested that the chemical state, metal-oxygen bond formation enthalpy, and ionic radius are important factors for improving charge separation and transfer. The ML-guided selection criteria were also extended to copper oxide-based photoelectrodes, resulting in improved charge separation and transfer.

Dependence of InGaN Quantum Well Thickness on the Nature of Optical Transitions in LEDs

Mateusz Hajdel et al.

Summary: The design of the active region is crucial for III-nitride based LEDs due to carrier separation caused by built-in polarization. In this study, radiative transitions in InGaN-based LEDs with different quantum well thicknesses were investigated. The results showed that the thickness of the quantum well influenced the emission spectra, with thicker quantum wells exhibiting stable emission. The variation in emission spectra was attributed to differences in carrier density and the magnitude of built-in field screening. Excited states played a significant role in carrier recombination, except for the thinnest quantum well.

Micro-LED backlight module by deep reinforcement learning and micro-macro-hybrid environment control agent

Che-Hsuan Huang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a micro-LED backlight module with a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) structure, utilizing deep reinforcement learning (DRL) architecture for optical design. It addresses the computing environment issues of micro-scale and macro-scale structures through an environment control agent and virtual-realistic workflow. Results demonstrate that the micro-LED backlight module with DBR structure improves uniformity performance by 32% compared to the module without DBR, with the DRL method requiring only 17.9% of the design calculation time of traditional optical simulation.

Summary: This study successfully predicted the high-precision band gaps of 1,503 binary metallic oxides, nitrides, and sulfides using a deep learning model; transfer learning was employed to train the model with less than 5% of the dataset and predict the band gaps of the rest of the structures; this work demonstrates the feasibility of transfer learning in band gap prediction, with a computation speed significantly faster than traditional methods.
