Generating large topological charge Laguerre-Gaussian beam based on 4K phase-only spatial light modulator

Ruijian Li et al.

Summary: This paper solves the limitations of the spatial light modulator (SLM) screen resolution and the encoding algorithm in generating large topological charge vortex beams through hardware and algorithm improvements. Experimental results demonstrate the successful generation of Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams with topological charges up to 1200 and 1400, setting a new benchmark for precise measurement, sensing, and communication applications.

Intracavity spherical aberration for selective generation of single-transverse-mode Laguerre-Gaussian output with order up to 95

Quan Sheng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the generation of single-transverse-mode Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) emission from a diode-end-pumped Nd:YVO4, 1064 nm laser using mode selection via intracavity spherical aberration (SA). The study found that by choosing the appropriate focal length of the intracavity lens, it was possible to generate single-mode LG(0,+/- m) laser output with selectable angular indices m from 1 to 95 and non-zero radial indices p up to 4.

Laguerre-Gaussian beam generation via enhanced intracavity spherical aberration

Meng Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel end-pumped Laguerre-Gaussian mode-selectable laser was demonstrated by utilizing enhanced intracavity spherical aberration to enable oscillation of cavity modes of different order. By adjusting the distance between the lens and the output coupler, the order of the LG mode could be selectively changed. Multiple scalar LG modes were observed in the experiment, with the output power of the LG(0),(+/- 33) mode reaching 1.87 W under an absorbed pump power of 6.6 W.
