Preparation and Properties of Photoresponsive Pendimethalin@Silica-cinnamamide/γ-CD Microspheres for Pesticide Controlled Release

Meiyi Wang et al.

Summary: A novel photoresponsive herbicide delivery system was developed by functionalizing silica microsphere surfaces and encapsulating them with gamma-cyclodextrin. The microspheres showed remarkable loading capacity for pendimethalin and displayed excellent photoresponsiveness and controlled release. They exhibited longer duration weed control and lower genotoxicity than traditional pendimethalin, making them an environmentally friendly herbicidal formulation.

A pH-responsive fluorescent nanopesticide for selective delivery and visualization in pine wood nematode control

Wei Gan et al.

Summary: A pH-responsive fluorescent nanopesticide was developed for selective delivery and visualization in pine wood nematode control. The pesticide had a release rate of 21.8% under acidic conditions, which was greatly enhanced through synthesis and accumulation of benzoic acid in nematode-infested pines. The nanopesticide exhibited excellent formulation stability, good wettability, and adhesion, and showed a higher control effect on pine wood nematodes compared to commercial preparations.

Synthesis of Monodispersed Hollow Mesoporous Organosilica and Silica Nanoparticles with Controllable Shell Thickness Using Soft and Hard Templates

Yuji Fujii et al.

Summary: A method was developed to synthesize hollow mesoporous nanoparticles with controllable size and shell thickness for drug-delivery applications. Monodispersed hollow mesoporous organosilica (HMOS) and hollow mesoporous silica (HMS) nanoparticles were successfully prepared using soft and hard templating methods. The hollow size of HMOS can be tuned by changing the size of the hard templates, and the shell thicknesses of HMOS and HMS can be adjusted by changing the amount of precursor used.

Construction of Prochloraz-Loaded Hollow Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Coated with Metal-Phenolic Networks for Precise Release and Improved Biosafety of Pesticides

Liyin Shi et al.

Summary: In this study, a pH-responsive controlled release nano-formulation loaded with prochloraz was successfully developed using hollow mesoporous silica as a nanocarrier and TA-Cu metal-phenolic networks as a capping agent. The nanoparticles exhibited excellent adhesion on the surface of oilseed rape leaves and demonstrated better antifungal activity against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum compared to prochloraz technical. Moreover, they showed lower toxicity to zebrafish. These findings suggest that the pH-responsive nanoparticles prepared with a TA-Cu metal-phenolic network are highly efficient and environmentally friendly, providing a new approach for the development of pesticide delivery systems.
