An effective hyper heuristic-based memetic algorithm for the distributed assembly permutation flow-shop scheduling problem

Hong-Bo Song et al.

Summary: In this paper, an effective Hyper Heuristic-based Memetic Algorithm (HHMA) is proposed to solve the Distributed Assembly Permutation Flow-shop Scheduling Problem (DAPFSP) with the objective of minimizing the maximum completion time. A novel searching-stage-based solution representation scheme is presented for both improving the search efficiency and maintaining potential solutions. Comparison experiments on a benchmark set demonstrate the superiority of HHMA over the state-of-the-art algorithms for the DAPFSP.

A cooperative whale optimization algorithm for energy-efficient scheduling of the distributed blocking flow-shop with sequence-dependent setup time

Fuqing Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the distributed blocking flow-shop sequence-dependent scheduling problem (DBFSDSP) considering production efficiency measures. Existing literature often overlooks energy efficiency indicators. To address this, a cooperative whale optimization algorithm (CWOA) is proposed to solve DBFSDSP. The algorithm defines a critical path, designs energy-saving operations for the non-critical path, accelerates operations for the critical path, and incorporates three acceptance criteria for multi-objective optimization. Experimental results show that CWOA outperforms other algorithms in terms of efficiency and significance in solving DBFSDSP.
