Multiple arterial coronary bypass grafting is associated with better survival compared with second-generation drug-eluting stents in patients with stable multivessel coronary artery disease

Summary: This study compared the long-term outcomes of multiarterial graft (MAG) coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) versus percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with second-generation drug-eluting stents (DES) for treating stable multivessel coronary artery disease. The findings showed that MAG had better survival rates and fewer major cardiac adverse events compared to DES over a 5-year period. Therefore, CABG with MAG may be considered the treatment of choice for patients with stable multivessel coronary artery disease.

Summary: This study investigates the association between spontaneous myocardial infarction (SMI) reduction and survival benefit in coronary artery bypass (CABG) compared with percutaneous interventions (PCI). The results show that CABG is associated with a lower incidence of SMI and higher survival rate compared to PCI.

Percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery surgery for left main disease according to lesion site: A meta-analysis

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) for different lesion sites (ostial/shaft vs distal) in patients with unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) disease. It found that for patients with distal ULMCA disease, CABG is associated with lower incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and revascularization compared with PCI.

Complete revascularization during coronary artery bypass grafting is associated with reduced major adverse events

Summary: The aim of this study was to provide risk-adjusted outcomes for complete revascularization. Complete surgical revascularization of all vessels in patients with multivessel coronary artery disease is associated with fewer major adverse events. Incomplete revascularization of nonmain-branch vessels is not associated with survival or major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events.

Summary: The study compared the outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) for left main coronary artery disease. Results showed that PCI and CABG did not have significant differences in early or 5-year mortality, but exhibited varying rates of stroke, myocardial infarction, and repeat revascularization.
