IFN-Induced Protein with Tetratricopeptide Repeats 2 Limits Autoimmune Inflammation by Regulating Myeloid Cell Activation and Metabolic Activity

Dongkyun Kim et al.

Summary: In addition to its antiviral functions, type I interferon (IFN) also possesses potent anti-inflammatory properties and is used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS). This study reveals a previously unknown role of IFN-induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 2 (Ifit2) in regulating immune responses during autoimmune neuroinflammation. Ifit2 deficiency was found to increase susceptibility to experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and promote immune cell infiltration in the central nervous system (CNS). Moreover, Ifit2 was found to be involved in myelin debris clearance and remyelination, suggesting its importance in promoting tissue repair.

Blood-brain barrier permeability towards small and large tracers in a mouse model of osmotic demyelination syndrome

Joshua Scalisi et al.

Summary: During osmotic demyelination syndrome (ODS), the disruption of blood-brain barrier (BBB) is locally correlated with brain lesions, and BBB opening occurs late in pre-established ODS lesions, rather than being a primary event initiating oligodendrocyte damages in the mouse model of ODS.

CD40L protects against mouse hepatitis virus-induced neuroinflammatory demyelination

Fareeha Saadi et al.

Summary: The study found that the CD40-CD40L signal plays a host-protective role in the mouse neuroinflammation model, helping to combat RSA59-induced demyelination. CD40L(-/-) mice exhibited more severe disease with decreased immune activation, reduced recruitment of CD4(+) T cells to the CNS, and pathological features including demyelination and axonal loss.

Long Non-Coding RNA GRIK1-AS1 Inhibits the Proliferation and Invasion of Gastric Cancer Cells by Regulating the miR-375/IFIT2 Axis

Qi Zhou et al.

Summary: This study identified the regulatory relationship between lncRNA GRIK1-AS1 and the miR-375/IFIT2 axis in gastric cancer. It demonstrated that GRIK1-AS1 acts as a sponge for miR-375, impacting the progression of gastric cancer by modulating target mRNA IFIT2 translation. These findings provide a novel strategy for future therapeutic development based on GRIK1-AS1.

Super-enhancer-associated long noncoding RNA RP11-569A11.1 inhibited cell progression and metastasis by regulating IFIT2 in colorectal cancer

Huanhuan Chen et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that super-enhancer-associated long noncoding RNAs (SE-LncRNAs) play pivotal roles in carcinogenesis. This study identified a novel SE-LncRNA, RP11-569A11.1, which was significantly downregulated in colorectal cancer (CRC) tissues and cells. Functionally, RP11-569A11.1 inhibited CRC tumorigenesis by suppressing cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and promoting apoptosis through positively regulating IFIT2 expression in CRC cells.
