A Nutrigenetic Update on CETP Gene-Diet Interactions on Lipid-Related Outcomes

Ramatu Wuni et al.

Summary: This review examines the interactions between CETP SNPs and dietary factors on blood lipids. The findings show that 8 CETP SNPs and 17 dietary factors have significant effects on blood lipids in 18 ethnicities. The results suggest that CETP SNPs may alter blood lipid profiles by modifying responses to diet.

Summary: The study found that the VEGF-2549 I/D and VEGF +936 C/T polymorphisms were associated with the risk of CKD in North-West Indian patients. Specifically, the VEGF -2549 ID genotype and the ID-CT genotype combination of VEGF -2549 I/D and VEGF +936 C/T polymorphisms were significantly associated with reduced CKD risk.

Summary: Hyperuricemia is associated with numerous diseases such as gout, hypertension, chronic kidney diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. Research has shown that intracellular uric acid production can lead to the generation of reactive oxygen species, which regulate intracellular signaling pathways and may contribute to the development of atherosclerosis.

Maite M. Schroor et al.

Summary: This study found that certain SNPs are associated with cholesterol metabolism, including ABCG5 and ABCG8 genes with serum campesterol and/or sitosterol levels, NPC1L1 gene with serum lathosterol levels, and HMGCR and LBR genes with serum LDL-C concentrations. However, SNPs in cholesterol absorption genes were not associated with serum LDL-C concentrations.

Interaction between CETP polymorphism and dietary insulin index and load in relation to cardiovascular risk factors in diabetic adults

Faezeh Abaj et al.

Summary: Gene-diet interactions, specifically involving CETP TaqB1 polymorphism, alongside dietary insulin index and load, can influence cardiovascular disease risk factors in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The study showed that patients with the B1B1 genotype had lower lipid profiles on high DIL and DII diets, while those with the B2B2 genotype and high DIL may exhibit higher antioxidant and inflammatory markers. Additionally, an interaction between CETP TaqB1 and DII was observed, with B2B2 genotype carriers exhibiting higher WC and inflammatory markers on high DII diets.
