Performance analysis of shell fabric of fire protective clothing for different process parameters

Rochak Rathour et al.

Summary: The study utilized horizontal and vertical orientations of fabric to improve the performance of fire protective clothing. By conducting experiments, a multi-parameter equation was obtained to calculate the performance of horizontal and vertical orientations based on different process parameters. The results showed that increasing heat flux, microclimate thickness, and moisture content can significantly enhance the protection time.

Studies on the influence of process parameters on the protection performance of the outer layer of fire-protective clothing

Rochak Rathour et al.

Summary: Firefighters' turnout gear must balance thermal protection and comfort, which are inherently incompatible. The study found that Nomex IIIA material is suitable for thermal protection. A system equation was developed to predict protection time and its accuracy was verified through experiments.

Study on thermal protective performance of thermal liner in a multi-layer clothing under radiant heat exposure

Tathagata Das et al.

Summary: The effect of the number of layers of the thermal liner on the thermal protection properties of thermal protective clothing has been studied. The experiment shows that the protection time increases with the increase in the number of layers, and decreases with increased heat flux. The effect of the number of layers is more prominent at a lower level of heat flux.

Impact of repeated radiative heat exposure on protective performance of firefighter's protective clothing

Rochak Rathour et al.

Summary: This study investigated the durability of firefighters' protective clothing, and found that fabric material, pick density, exposure cycles, and heat flux intensity significantly affect the performance of the clothing. The results can provide guidance for textile designers in creating more thermo-stable and durable turnout suits.

Using Artificial Neural Network Modeling to Analyze the Thermal Protective and Thermo-Physiological Comfort Performance of Textile Fabrics Used in Oilfield Workers' Clothing

Sumit Mandal et al.

Summary: Most of the fatalities and injuries of oilfield workers are attributed to inadequate protection and comfort provided by their clothing under various work hazards and ambient environments. This study focuses on using artificial neural network modeling to analyze clothing performance, taking into account wearers' sweat moisture and the microclimate air gap between their body and clothing. Key fabric properties that affect thermal protective and thermo-physiological comfort performance were identified, with thickness being the most significant factor. The ANN modeling approach proved successful in predicting fabric performance based on fabric properties, which could inform and enhance the occupational health and safety of on-duty oilfield workers.
