Photocatalytic degradation of MB dye and paracetamol drug, via hydrothermally synthesised praseodymium doped Bi4V2O11 nanoparticles

Kaseed Anwar et al.

Summary: The photocatalytic behavior and synthesis of praseodymium doped bismuth vanadate were studied. The doping of Pr3+ for V5+ in the lattice significantly enhanced the photocatalytic activity. Various experiments and tests were conducted to investigate the effect of Pr doping on the phase structure and photocatalytic performance, and to gain a deeper understanding of the active radical species in the photocatalytic process.

Structural study and ionic conductivity of Bi4V2-xSix/2Px/2O11-δ (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) compounds

A. Agnaou et al.

Summary: The solid solution of general formula Bi4V2-xSix/2Px/2O11-delta (0.0 <= x <= 0.5) was synthesized and characterized using XRD, SEM, FTIR, ATD, Raman spectroscopy and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. The study found that compounds with x <= 0.3 have the same crystal structure as the monoclinic alpha polymorph, while the compound with x = 0.4 crystallizes in the beta polymorph. The electrical conductivity of the substituted samples was measured as a function of composition in the temperature range from 25 to 700 degrees C. In the low temperature range, the doped compounds exhibited higher conductivity than the parent compound Bi4V2O11. The highest conductivity was obtained for x = 0.1.

Effect of simultaneous Cu and Nb doping Bi4V2O11 on structural and electrical properties of Bi4V2-xCux/2Nbx/2O11-3x/4

W. Mhaira et al.

Summary: BiMeVOx compounds Bi4V2-xCux/2Nbx/2O11-3x/4, with identical compositions of Cu2+ and Nb5+ ions, show an area of existence from x = 0 to 0.5. X-ray diffraction measurements and thermal analysis reveal the presence of three main Bi4V2O11 polymorphs alpha, beta, and (gamma/gamma') at room temperature, depending on the composition. The electrical conductivity evolution with the rate of substitution has been studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in the temperature range of 120-720 degrees C. Samples with x = 0.2 exhibit the highest conductivity. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows significant grain growth and the presence of micro-cracks in ceramics with a composition of x = 0.5.

Bond Characterization in Cementitious Material Binders Using Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy

Moruf Olalekan Yusuf

Summary: Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is a fast and simple technique for identifying functional groups in cementitious binders. It can identify different compounds and bond vibrations in inorganic molecules. Factors such as molar mass, temperature, pH, and activator concentration can affect the spectra bands.

Assembly of mixed Bi4V1.4Nb0.6O11 phase and g-C3N4 photoactive material over rGO: Enhanced organic model pollutants removal under sun light irradiation

Venkatesan Jayaraman et al.

Summary: An efficient Bi4V1.4Nb0.6O11/g-C3N4 over the rGO ternary composite has been prepared, showing high photo-catalytic degradation rates for MB dye and photo-reduction rates for 4-Nitrophenol molecules. LC-MS analysis confirms complete mineralization of toxic molecules by the ternary composite. The proposed Z-scheme charge carrier transfer mechanism is supported by free radical trapping experiments and ESR trapping experiments.
