Imaging and control of periodic array of stripe domain and domain wall in epitaxial BiFeO3 thin films

Siyi Zhang et al.

Summary: Ferroelectric stripe domain structure and domain walls in epitaxial BiFeO3 thin films were investigated using vector PFM. Measurements of film topography versus distance between spikes, supported by XRD and AFM characterization, revealed the presence of a 109 degrees domain in the film. The 109 degrees domain can be switched under the electric field generated by a biased PFM tip, and its controllable rotation can be maintained by electron injection. These conductive stripe domain walls offer opportunities for studying new properties in high-density memory devices.

Domain wall memory: Physics, materials, and devices

Durgesh Kumar et al.

Summary: Digital data generated by corporate and individual users is growing due to the use of digital applications. While flash memory devices are replacing HDDs in certain applications, HDDs still dominate the storage of digital data in cloud and servers. Domain wall memory (DWM) is a potential alternative to HDDs, offering lower power consumption and higher storage capacity. However, there are challenges to be addressed before DWM can become commercially viable.

Experimental verification of domain-wall tilting induced by Dzyaloshinskii Moriya interaction in current-driven domain-wall motion

Myeonghoe Kim et al.

Summary: The experimental observation shows that the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) plays a decisive role in the domain-wall tilting for various films, indicating the dominance of DMI-induced mechanism in the efficient current-driven domain-wall motion for practical films.
