Evidence for Neoproterozoic terrane accretion in the central Borborema Province, West Gondwana deduced by isotopic and geophysical data compilation

Lauro Cezar M. De Lira Santos et al.

Summary: The Borborema Province in NE Brazil is part of a large Neoproterozoic orogenic system related to the assembly of West Gondwana. The evolution of this province is contentious due to multiple overprinted events. A compilation of geological, isotopic, and geophysical data supports a terrane accretion model for the Transversal subprovince within the Borborema Province, revealing different terranes with varied ages and nature as evidence of accretion.

An overview on the Rhyacian-Orosirian (ca. 2.1-2.0 Ga) granitic magmatism of the Alto Moxoto Terrane and its implications for the crustal evolution of the Borborema Province, NE Brazil

Lauro Cezar Montefalco de Lira Santos et al.

Summary: This study investigates the geochemical and isotopic data of deformed granitic-gneissic suites in the Alto Moxoto Terrane of NE Brazil, which were formed around 2.1-2.0 Ga. The results suggest that these rocks were derived from upper mantle melting in a subduction-related setting, and indicate an early crustal evolution.

Oblique collision and accretionary processes in the South Borborema Province: Insights from structural geology and geophysical data

Gabriela M. Almeida et al.

Summary: During orogenesis, the nature of rocks, geological environment, P-T conditions, and type of collision contribute to the formation of different structures and deformational styles. This paper focuses on the Sa similar to o Miguel do Aleixo Shear Zone in NE Brazil, which separates domains with different structural and metamorphic grades and provides insights into the tectonic implications and evolution of the orogen.

Summary: The study reviews tectonostratigraphic terranes within the Neoproterozoic Brasiliano fold belts in South American platform, including Tocantins, Mantiqueira, and Borborema provinces. Various terranes have been identified within these provinces, offering insights into the geological history and evolution of the region.
