This paper presents a formulation for developing the dynamic stiffness matrix of a piezoelectric array element with arbitrary boundary conditions. Gorman's superposition method is innovatively utilized to obtain the solutions of the governing equations of motion for piezoelectric materials. The strong form of boundary conditions is satisfied, and the Projection method is adopted for solving the spatial dependence. The results of a piezoelectric array element operating as a transmitter and receiver are validated using the finite element method with COMSOL Multiphysics.
