Thin-Film Coating Methods: A Successful Marriage of High-Quality and Cost-Effectiveness-A Brief Exploration

Muhammad A. Butt

Summary: This review presents several cost-effective thin-film coating methods, including dip-coating, spin-coating, spray-coating, blade-coating, and roll-coating. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the selection of coating method should be based on the type and size of the substrate.

Simple Fabrication of Water Harvesting Surfaces Using Three-Dimensional Printing Technology

Sanghu Han et al.

Summary: A biomimetic surface for water collection was engineered using 3D printing technology, creating reusable molds and waveform microstructures on a hydrophobic polymer surface. Chemical etching was used to enhance water droplet motion, while metal deposition and self-masking effects created hydrophilic regions for water droplet seeding. The fabricated surface demonstrated superior water-collecting performance compared to other surfaces, showcasing the potential of 3D printing for developing engineered surfaces with controlled wettability.

Summary: BCZ20Y15-GDC15 is a widely studied composite material for H-2 purification and membrane reactors, but the optimization of suitable slurries for its manufacturing is crucial for its practical uses. In this study, the stability and printability of the slurries were evaluated, and smooth and defect-free asymmetric structures were successfully printed using a mu-extrusion 3D printer.
