An efficient isolation and purification of broad partition coefficient range ginsenosides from roots of Panax quinquefolium L. by linear gradient counter-current chromatography coupled with preparative high-performance liquid chromatography

Li Cui et al.

Summary: A fast and effective bilinear gradient counter-current chromatography method was proposed for the preparative isolation of ginsenosides from Panax quinquefolium L. roots. Eleven main ginsenosides were successfully separated with purities exceeding 95% using n-butanol and ethyl acetate as mobile phases. The method can be applied to isolate active compounds from other complex natural products.

Microemulsion as solvent for naphthoquinones extraction from walnut (Juglans mandshurica Maxim) green husk using high voltage electrical discharge

Danyang Qin et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel extraction strategy combining microemulsion and high voltage electric discharge (HVED) was proposed to extract natural naphthoquinones (NQs) from walnut green husks. The results showed that this strategy resulted in a high yield of NQs and provided a competitive option to extract hydrophobic compounds in a less-organics-consumption way.

Anti-inflammatory activity of naturally occuring diarylheptanoids - A review

Corinne Vanucci-Bacque et al.

Summary: Inflammation is a normal response to infection, but uncontrolled inflammation can lead to autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, or cancers. Current anti-inflammatory drug therapy often falls short or causes severe side effects, emphasizing the need for new treatment options. Diarylheptanoids from medicinal plants show promise as potential anti-inflammatory drugs.
