Psychological models of development of idiopathic environmental intolerances: Evidence from longitudinal population-based data

Luc Watrin et al.

Summary: The origin of idiopathic environmental intolerances remains unclear, with psychological factors playing a key role in their development. Research suggests that tendencies towards mental ill-health and expectations can impact the development of idiopathic environmental intolerances.

The role of aircraft noise annoyance and noise sensitivity in the association between aircraft noise levels and medication use: results of a pooled-analysis from seven European countries

Clemence Baudin et al.

Summary: This study found a significant association between aircraft noise levels at night and antihypertensive medication in the UK. Aircraft noise annoyance was significantly associated with the use of various medications, while noise sensitivity was significantly associated with almost all medications. The results also suggested a mediating role of aircraft noise annoyance and a modifying role of both aircraft noise annoyance and noise sensitivity in the association between aircraft noise levels and medication use.

Modern health worries and idiopathic environmental intolerance attributed to electromagnetic fields are associated with paranoid ideation

Renata Szemerszky et al.

Summary: The study suggests that paranoid ideation is associated with modern health worries and idiopathic environmental intolerances related to electromagnetic fields, independent of general somatic symptom distress in both cases, providing potential insight into the temporal stability of these constructs.

The role of executive functioning on the intention-behaviour relationship of health behaviours: a temporal self-regulatory perspective

William S. Frye et al.

Summary: This study utilized the Temporal Self-Regulation theory (TST) to examine the moderating effect of self-regulatory capacity and prepotent behaviour on the relationship between intention and health behaviours in college students. Results showed that executive functioning and past behaviour were positively associated with follow-up behaviour, with combinations of past behaviour and executive functioning levels demonstrating moderation effects on physical activity and healthy eating behaviors.
