Scrupulosity - cognitive-behavioural understanding of religious/moral obsessive-compulsive disorder

Summary: This paper discusses the evolution of therapeutic models and techniques in the context of cognitive-behavioural therapy for scrupulosity. It also explores the epidemiology of the disorder within the group of obsessive-compulsive disorders. The changes in the conceptualisation of problems experienced by scrupulous individuals are also presented in the cognitive-behavioural models of obsessive-compulsive disorder, particularly scrupulosity. The aim of the article is to promote knowledge about scrupulosity among therapists, priests, and scientists to improve the quality of everyday functioning of patients.
