C-Reactive Protein: Marker of risk for post-traumatic stress disorder and its potential for a mechanistic role in trauma response and recovery

Samantha F. Friend et al.

Summary: Increasing evidence suggests that inflammation, particularly C-reactive protein (CRP), plays a significant role in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and stress disorders. However, further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms of CRP in central nervous system inflammation and its contribution to PTSD symptoms.

Central and Peripheral Immune Dysregulation in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: Convergent Multi-Omics Evidence

Diana L. Nunez-Rios et al.

Summary: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a chronic and multifactorial disorder, with potential involvement of the immune system in its pathogenesis, characterized by inflammatory dysregulation. Activation of the HPA axis and subsequent inflammatory system activation are common mechanisms orchestrating exaggerated immune response in PTSD, with potential contribution of epigenetic alterations.

Network Models of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder: A Meta-Analysis

Adela-Maria Isvoranu et al.

Summary: The study reveals significant between-study heterogeneity in PTSD symptom networks, highlighting the importance of meta-analytic approaches. While clear symptom-links and interpretable clusters were identified in the network, no single or small set of nodes played a more central role than others, with amnesia symptom being the least central. Despite heterogeneity, network models estimated from single samples showed similar structures as the pooled network model.
