Marco Solmi et al.

Summary: Several meta-analyses have explored the association between risk and protective factors and cannabis/cocaine/opioid use disorders, but conflicting results were found. None of the associations were considered convincing, with only one risk factor (smoking) showing highly suggestive evidence for association with nonmedical use of prescription opioid medicines. Further research is needed to better understand the risk/protective factors for these disorders and inform preventive strategies.
