Preparation of bio-based cellulose acetate/chitosan composite film with oxygen and water resistant properties

Huimin Zhou et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared a bio-based composite film with oxygen and water resistant properties using a novel method, incorporating additives such as chitosan and silica. The addition of chitosan greatly reduced oxygen transmission rate and improved tensile properties of the film, while silica particles helped to adjust surface hydrophilicity to hydrophobicity. The resulting composite film shows promise for applications in food packaging and similar uses.
