The role of nanoparticles inclusion in monitoring the physical properties of PVDF

A. M. Ismail et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of CoxZn1-x Fe2O4 nanofillers on PVDF polymer were investigated. The structure, magnetic properties, and optical properties of the nanofillers were studied. The results showed that the nanofillers were synthesized in a single phase and had a cubic-like shape. The addition of nanofillers to the PVDF matrix resulted in changes in the crystalline nature of PVDF and an increase in pore size on the PVDF surface. The magnetic properties of PVDF were also enhanced by the addition of nanofillers.

Waste Iron Filings to Improve the Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Glass Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy (GFRE) Composites

Hatem Abushammala et al.

Summary: By incorporating waste iron filings into glass fiber-reinforced epoxy composites, the mechanical and electrical properties of the composites can be improved. The density, hardness, Young's modulus, and tensile strength of the composites increase with increasing waste iron filing content up to 9%, but decrease significantly with higher content due to agglomeration. The composites with 15% or more waste iron filing content exhibit electrical conductivity, which increases with increasing content.

Novel investigation of pyrolysis mechanisms and kinetics for functional groups in biomass matrix

Ruijia Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the thermal evolutions and pyrolysis kinetics of functional groups in peanut shell matrix using in-situ FTIR and TG-FTIR-MS, revealing that pyrolysis mechanisms are dominated by diffusion and order-based chemical reactions. Online monitoring of released volatiles and gases showed their quantities in the order of C=O > CO2 > aliphatic C-O-(H) > C-O-(C) in esters > aromatics > H2O > phenolic hydroxyl > aliphatic hydrocarbons > CO. This established a novel methodology for evaluating biomass pyrolysis mechanisms at the molecular level, providing valuable information for developing large-scale advanced pyrolysis techniques for sustainable ecosystems.
