Electronic Structures of Polymorphic Layers of Borophane

Ikuma Tateishi et al.

Summary: This article reviews recent studies on the electronic structures of polymorphic borophane sheets, finding that hydrogenated boron sheets have a semimetallic electronic structure. A tight-binding model that reproduces the electronic structure is proposed, and the analysis of hydrogenated boron sheets with more complicated frames is also discussed.

Carbon dioxide adsorption and conversion to methane and ethane on hydrogen boride sheets

Taiga Goto et al.

Summary: This study reports the adsorption and conversion of CO2 to CH4 and C2H6 using hydrogen-deficient hydrogen boride (HB) sheets. We found that hydrogen-deficient HB sheets have strong physisorption capacity for CO2 and can promote C-C coupling and CO2 conversion reactions. These findings highlight the potential application of HB sheets as catalysts for CO2 conversion.

Synthesis of borophane polymorphs through hydrogenation of borophene

Qiucheng Li et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of borophane polymorphs by hydrogenating borophene with atomic hydrogen, revealing their specific bonding modes and metallic properties. The borophane polymorphs can be reversibly returned to pristine borophene through thermal desorption of hydrogen, and also provide a chemical passivation effect by reducing oxidation rates.

Chemical stability of hydrogen boride nanosheets in water

Kurt Irvin M. Rojas et al.

Summary: Research shows that hydrogen boride nanosheets exhibit chemical stability in water, with little hydrolysis occurring, attributed to the charge state of boron and the boron-boron bond network. However, proton exchange does take place in water, making the nanosheets acidic.

Adsorption of toxic gases on borophene: surface deformation links to chemisorptions

Luong Thi Ta et al.

Summary: Beta(12) borophene shows strong interaction with toxic gases such as CO, NO, NH3, and particularly NO2, making it a sensitive sensing material. The deformation at the ridge of borophene enables its active p(z) orbital to hybridize strongly with frontier orbitals of the polar gases, enhancing its interaction with these gases. Additionally, CO2 is physisorbed while the other gases are chemically bonded to beta(12) borophene.

Ethanol-ethylene conversion mechanism on hydrogen boride sheets probed by in situ infrared absorption spectroscopy

Asahi Fujino et al.

Summary: The study investigated the conversion of ethanol on hydrogen boride (HB) sheets, revealing that ethanol molecules undergo dehydration reaction with hydrogen atoms from HB sheets, forming ethyl species. The rate-determining step of the dehydration reaction was identified as the dehydrogenation of the methyl group of ethyl species on HB sheets.
