Intrinsic Linear Dichroism of Organic Single Crystals toward High-Performance Polarization-Sensitive Photodetectors

Tianyu Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the construction of polarization-sensitive photodetectors based on the organic semiconductor 2,6-diphenyl anthracene (DPA) single crystals, showing strong anisotropy in molecular vibration, optical reflectance, and optical absorption. Theoretical calculations confirmed that the polarization sensitivity of DPA crystals originated from the anisotropic in-plane crystal structure. This work opens up possibilities for developing compact polarization photodetectors and new functionalities in flexible optical and optoelectronic applications.

Integration of Highly Luminescent Lead Halide Perovskite Nanocrystals on Transparent Lead Halide Nanowire Waveguides through Morphological Transformation and Spontaneous Growth in Water

Tao Chen et al.

Summary: The growth of highly luminescent CsPbBr3 quantum dots on CsPb2Br5 nanowires has great potential for applications in nanophotonics, optical sensing, and quantum communications. CsPbBr3-gamma X-gamma (X = Cl, I) nanocrystals on CsPb2Br5-gamma X-gamma nanowires are synthesized by immersing CsPbBr3 powder into pure water, providing tunable light sources. The transformation from CsPbBr3 powder to CsPb2Br5 microplatelets and then to nanowires is controlled by electrolytic dissociation and supersaturation of CsPb2Br5. CsPbBr3 nanocrystals are spontaneously formed on CsPb2Br5 nanowires when collected from the aqueous solution.

Lanthanide-doped inorganic halide perovskites (CsPbX3): novel properties and emerging applications

Santosh Kachhap et al.

Summary: Inorganic halide perovskites (IHPs) have attracted intense research efforts due to their stability, optoelectronic properties, cost-effectiveness, and applications. Lanthanide doping in IHPs has opened up new possibilities for emerging applications, and has significantly improved their stability, structure, and optical properties. However, there is a lack of comprehensive reviews on this development for IHPs. This review aims to provide important fundamental aspects and recent developments, focusing on CsPbX3 materials and their lanthanide doping, while also covering the doping of non-lanthanide metal ions in IHPs for comparison. Novel applications and future perspectives are discussed as well.

Deconvoluting the energy transport mechanisms in all-inorganic CsPb2Br5/CsPbBr3 perovskite composite systems

Yunpeng Wang et al.

Summary: CsPb2Br5/CsPbBr3 composite systems have attracted significant attention due to their enhanced photoluminescence intensity and moisture stability. However, the luminescence mechanism of CsPb2Br5-based materials remains controversial. In this work, high-quality CsPb2Br5 crystals were prepared to investigate their luminescent mechanisms. The results indicate that the green emission comes from CsPbBr3 attached and grown on CsPb2Br5 crystals. Ultrafast transient absorption measurements further reveal the dominance of intersystem crossing in the electron transfer process due to phonon scattering-assisted hopping at interfacial states. These findings provide insights into the luminescence of CsPb2Br5 materials and pave the way for designing and enhancing the fluorescence of materials for technological applications.

Van der Waals Epitaxial Deposition of CsPbBr3 Films for Flexible Optoelectronic Applications

Ruofei Xing et al.

Summary: The growth of high-quality inorganic halide perovskite films has gained attention for their applications in solar cells, photodetectors, and communications. This study successfully prepared a centimeter-sized CsPbBr3 film on a flexible muscovite substrate using pulsed laser deposition. By optimizing the deposition conditions, a pure cubic phase CsPbBr3 film with van der Waals epitaxy was achieved. The CsPbBr3 film was then assembled into a planar photodetector, demonstrating low dark current, high sensitivity to light, and ultrafast response time. Additionally, the CsPbBr3-based photodetectors showed good long-term stability and bending stability, indicating their potential for flexible optoelectronic applications.

Linear and nonlinear optical characteristics of CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots-doped borosilicate glasses

Zhousu Xu et al.

Summary: CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots embedded in glass exhibit strong visible photoluminescence, with intensity dependent on concentration and heat treatment conditions. Nonlinear optical properties can be determined using a Z-scan technique, showing a crossover between saturated absorption and reverse saturated absorption with changes in QD size and pumping intensity, leading to strong upconversion luminescence associated with two-photon absorption. The findings suggest potential applications of CsPbBr3 QD-containing glasses from solid state lighting to ultrafast optical switches.
