Design of 3D topological nodal-net porous carbon for sodium-ion battery anodes

Dongyuan Ni et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new 3D topological nodal-net carbon allotrope consisting of graphene nanoribbons, which shows promising potential as an anode material for sodium-ion batteries. The structure possesses stability and performs well in terms of reversible capacity, diffusion energy barrier, average voltage, and volume change. The unique characteristics and high performance are attributed to the ordered porosity and the Dirac massless fermions induced by the nodal net.

Irvsp: To obtain irreducible representations of electronic states in the VASP

Jiacheng Gao et al.

Summary: The open-source program irvsp computes irreducible representations for electronic states in all 230 space groups, using wavefunctions and space group operators generated by the Vienna ab-initio Simulation Package. It can handle spin-orbit coupling and is useful for analyzing energy bands, their connectivities, and band topology. The program has been extended to orthogonal tight-binding Hamiltonians and a sister program is also available.

Tunable topologically nontrivial states in newly discovered graphyne allotropes: from Dirac nodal grid to Dirac nodal loop

Pei Zhang et al.

Summary: In this work, a new graphyne allotrope named 191-E24Y24-1 with a unique Dirac nodal grid state is reported. It shows stability against external strains and tunability under compression strains. Additionally, a metastable graphyne allotrope with a Dirac nodal loop state, named 191-E12Y36-4, is observed during the stretching process of 191-E24Y24-1. These novel allotropes exhibit exotic electronic properties and have potential applications in high performance electronic nanodevices based on carbon.

Type-II Dirac cones and electron-phonon interaction in monolayer biphenylene from first-principles calculations

Peng-Fei Liu et al.

Summary: The study reveals that metallic biphenylene sheets exhibit low-temperature weak coupling superconductivity due to an unusual combination of exceptionally large logarithmically averaged phonon frequency and moderate electron-phonon coupling. The electronic structure shows specific Fermi surface features and Dirac cones, while topological calculations indicate that monolayer biphenylene is a Z(2) topological material.
