Molecular Arrangement Control of [1]Benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (BTBT) via Charge-Assisted Hydrogen Bond

Ryota Akai et al.

Summary: The molecular structure and arrangement of organic semiconductors have significant effects on their optical and electrical properties. In this study, the molecular arrangement of organic salts was successfully controlled by using alkylamines as arrangement-controlling components, without modifying the electronic character of the constituent molecules. The results show that the molecular arrangement of the organic salts changed depending on the bulkiness of the alkylamines, and this change also affected the dimensionality of the electronic state and properties of the organic salts.

Summary: Highly designable organic porous materials have attracted attention for the development of new types of molecular adsorption-desorption materials. The physical properties can be changed by the appropriate chemical design of the host crystal lattice. The flexibility of the crystal lattice for guest adsorption-desorption cycles can be modified by adjusting the ionic radii in (M+)2(m-BSNDI2-).

Chemical design of organic ferroelectrics using dynamics of alkylamide chains

Takashi Takeda et al.

Summary: Polypeptide chains and alkylamide chains are important structural units used in the formation of protein secondary structures and characteristic molecular assemblies like liquid crystals and supramolecular polymers. The combination of alkylamide chains and functional Tc-electron frameworks enable multifunctional molecular materials with properties such as ferroelectricity, luminescence, high thermal stability, photoresponse, and current switching. Chiral alkylamide chains are effective in controlling dipole inversion and low coercive electric fields for memory devices, while influencing the physical properties of organic ferroelectrics in molecular assemblies.
