Association of reperfusion success and emboli in new territories with long term mortality after mechanical thrombectomy

This suggests a possible association between VWI and MT. Soft thrombus consistency, higher number of passes, and poorer revascularization outcome were associated with VWI. There was no significant correlation between VWI and MT device.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging or Computed Tomography for Suspected Acute Stroke: Association of Admission Image Modality with Acute Recanalization Therapies, Workflow Metrics, and Outcomes

Summary: This study compared the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) in patients with stroke. The results showed that patients who underwent MRI had lower rates of intravenous thrombolysis and a delay in door-to-needle time, but there was no significant difference in door-to-puncture time and rates of mechanical thrombectomy. Additionally, patients in the MRI group had better functional outcomes.

Effects of diabetes mellitus complicated by admission hyperglycemia on clot histological composition and ultrastructure in patients with acute ischemic stroke

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between the composition and ultrastructure of clots and diabetes mellitus with admission hyperglycemia (ahDM) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). The findings showed that patients with ahDM had more severe stroke on admission and poorer functional outcomes after 3 months. Clots in ahDM patients had higher levels of fibrin and white blood cells, fewer red blood cell components, and a higher proportion of polyhedral erythrocytes compared to nonDM patients. In addition, the percentage of impervious clots was higher in nonDM patients. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.
