M. A. Latif et al.

Summary: A series of metal complexes of Ni(II), Zn(II), Sb(III), and U(VI) were synthesized using the Schiff base ligand, S-benzyl-3-(4-methoxybenzylidine)dithiocarbazate, and characterized by various techniques. The spectroscopic and theoretical data indicated that the ligand coordinated to the metal ions through N and S donor atoms of the Schiff base. The complexes exhibited different geometries, with Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes preferring square planar or tetrahedral geometry, and Sb(III) and U(VI) complexes adopting octahedral geometry. The compounds were also tested for antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacterial species.
