Metal-organic frameworks based single-atom catalysts for advanced fuel cells and rechargeable batteries

Yifei Wu et al.

Summary: Next-generation energy storage systems such as fuel cells, metal-air batteries, and alkali metal (Li, Na)-chalcogen (S, Se) batteries have gained attention for their high energy density and low cost. Incorporating efficient catalysts into these systems is crucial due to poor reaction kinetics. Single-atom catalysts (SACs) using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as templates have emerged as promising solutions, offering high metal loadings, adjustable structures, porosity, and tailored catalytic sites. This review summarizes strategies for fabricating MOFs-based SACs, their role in these batteries, and discusses their applications and prospects in energy storage systems.

Self-Assembly and Photothermal Conversion of MetallaRussian Doll and Metalla[2]catenanes Induced via Multiple Stacking Interactions

Tian Chen et al.

Summary: A series of new coordination supramolecular complexes, including a metalla-Russian doll, metalla[2]catenanes, and metallarectangles, were successfully synthesized using meticulously selected Cp*Rh building units and three rigid anthracylpyridine ligands via a self-assembly strategy. The versatility of half-sandwich building units was demonstrated in building complicated supramolecular topologies and effective functional materials for various appealing applications.

Structural diversity of Mn(II) and Cu(II) complexes based on 2-carboxy-phenoxyacetate linker: Syntheses, conformation comparison and magnetic properties

Jun-Xia Li et al.

Summary: Four new binary complexes with 2-carboxyphenoxyacetic acid ligand have been successfully synthesized and characterized. The structures of these complexes show diversity due to different synthetic conditions and flexible conformation of the ligand. Magnetic measurements indicate weak ferromagnetic exchange in 0D-Mn and 0D-Cu, but antiferromagnetic coupling in 1D-Mn and 2D-Cu.

Direct UV photodegradation of herbicide triclopyr in aqueous solutions: A mechanistic study

Ivan P. Pozdnyakov et al.

Summary: The mechanism of direct UV photolysis of the pyridine herbicide triclopyr was investigated using nanosecond laser flash photolysis, steady-state photolysis coupled with high resolution LC-MS, and DFT quantum chemical calculations. Short-lived intermediates and final products were detected and identified for the first time. The results provide insights into the fate of pyridine herbicides in UVC disinfection and natural waters under sunlight.

Mixture of Triclopyr and Imazapyr More Effective than Triclopyr Alone for Hardwood Forest Stand Improvement

Mark A. Turner et al.

Summary: The study found that a mixture of triclopyr and imazapyr is more effective than triclopyr alone in controlling hardwood stands, with minimal risk to nontarget tree species. The mixture controlled hickory and sourwood better than triclopyr alone, showing improved efficacy for forest stand improvement.
