Structures of four organic acid-base adducts from 4-aminoantipyrine, 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid, anthranilic acid, 5-nitrosalicylic acid, and 1, 5-naphthalenedisulfonic acid

Bin Chen et al.

Summary: Cocrystallization of 4-aminoantipyrine with four organic acids produced acid-base adducts, which were characterized and analyzed. XRD analysis showed that three of the adducts are organic salts while one is a cocrystal. The crystal packing is mediated by N-H•••O and O-H•••O hydrogen bonds, as well as other CH•••O/CH3•••O, CH•••π/CH3•••π, and OH•••π/O•••π contacts.

Summary: This study examines the predictability of the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), Hansen solubility parameter (HSP), and the conductor-like screening model for real solvents (COSMO-RS) methods in screening co-formers for minoxidil. The results confirm the efficiency of the CSD method and demonstrate that the COSMO-RS method performs much better than the HSP method.

Determination of protonation state in molecular salt of minoxidil and 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid through a combined experimental and theoretical study: influence of proton transfer on biological activities

Qi Wang et al.

Summary: A new MXD molecular salt formed by MXD and 2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (24HA) was prepared and characterized. Experimental results showed that the MXD/24HA salt is superior to raw MXD and can potentially be a candidate drug for hair loss. The combination of theory and experiment enables an innovative methodology to understand the differences in structure and properties of pharmaceutical salts.

Ten Salts and One Co-crystal Fabricated from 4-methylbenzo[ d ]thiazol-2-amine and Acids through Combination of Classical H-bonds and Weak Noncovalent Interactions

Sha Li et al.

Summary: Eleven crystalline compounds of 4-methylbenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine with different acids were prepared and analyzed by XRD, providing insight into the assembly of 4-methylbenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine-acid complexes. FT-IR spectroscopy was used to verify the deprotonation of carboxylic groups and identify co-crystals/salts. The results showed the formation of various hydrogen bonding interactions and the role of functional groups in the stabilization of the structures.

Preparation and characterization of eight crystalline supramolecular salts from 4-dimethylaminopyridine and aromatic acids

Ronghui Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, cocrystallization of 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) with aromatic acids yielded eight anhydrous and hydrous multicomponent molecular salts. Characterization by XRD, IR, and EA confirmed the structure of these salts, showing that they form stable crystals through various weak forces including N-H···O hydrogen bonds. The analysis also revealed different additional chemical contacts contributing to the stabilization and expansion of the 2D/3D structures.
