This review aims to propose strategies for generating functionalized MPO-based hybrid materials by anchoring polydentate N/O-ligands in MPO-based supramolecular building blocks (SBBs), and to expand the research scope and available functionality of MPOs.

A highly selective and fast-response fluorescent sensor based on a composite material ZIF-8@MA for the detection of trace amounts of Fe 3+ion

Summary: In this study, a method of loading maleic anhydride composite material with imidazolium salt framework (ZIF-8) was proposed for the first time. The resulting composite, ZIF-8@MA, was used as a Fluorescence sensor to detect Fe3+. The composite exhibited good fluorescence characteristics and high sensitivity, with a detection limit as low as 0.01 nM for Fe3+. The study also provided a better method for designing fluorescence sensors using ZIF-8 and other fluorescent molecules.

A novel hydrolytically stable fluorescent Cd(II) coordination polymer showing solvent-dependent multi-responsive fluorescence sensing to pH and some metal ions

Summary: In this study, a novel hydrolytically stable Cd(II)-FCP was synthesized through the assembly of multi-functional 2-amino-4-sulfonyl-benzoic acid and Cd(II) in the presence of the hydrophobic ligand 4-bis[(2-methyl-1H-imidazole-1-yl)methyl]benzene. The resulting compound exhibited acid and base resistance in a wide pH range and accurate sensing of pH in artificial gastric juices. Additionally, it demonstrated solvent-dependent multi-responsive fluorescence sensing behavior towards different metal ions.

A water-stable zwitterionic Zn(II) coordination polymer as a luminescent sensor for the nitrofurazone antibiotic in milk

Summary: The abuse of antibiotics has caused serious environmental problems and health threats, emphasizing the importance of selectively and sensitively detecting antibiotic residues. In this study, a novel coordination polymer, CP 1, was constructed and showed selective recognition of the nitrofurazone antibiotic with low limit of detection. CP 1 exhibited strong anti-interference properties and recyclability in the detection of the antibiotic in milk, achieving a perfect recovery rate. The fluorescence quenching mechanism of CP 1 was attributed to fluorescence resonance energy transfer and photoinduced electron transfer.
