Crystal structure, intermolecular interactions and NLO properties for imidazolium hydrogen sulfate ionic liquid

Rumyana Yankova et al.

Summary: The crystal structure, intermolecular interactions, and nonlinear optical behavior of the ionic liquid Imidazolium Hydrogen Sulfate (ImHS) were investigated for the first time. The combination of experimental (X-ray diffraction) and theoretical (quantum chemical calculations) methods provided important insights into the nonlinear optical properties of ImHS. The formation of hydrogen bonds between the imidazolium cation and hydrogen sulfate anion was found to stabilize the ImHS structure, leading to its highly polarizable nature and making it a promising candidate for nonlinear optical applications.

Liquid crystal and photoluminescent properties of a series of symmetrical 1,2-bis(4-alkoxybenzylidene)hydrazines bearing long-tails of hydrocarbon chain

Ahmed Jasim M. Al-Karawi et al.

Summary: In this work, a symmetrical series of azines were synthesized and studied for their liquid crystalline behavior and photoluminescent properties. The compounds showed enantiotropic liquid crystalline behavior with smectic and nematic mesophases, as well as photoluminescence in both crystalline and liquid crystal states.

An unprecedented formation of new copper(II) complexes as bioactive materials based on copper-catalyzed click reaction

Ahmed Jasim M. Al-Karawi et al.

Summary: A novel bisaroylhydrazone compound was synthesized and reacted with Cu(NO3)(2) in CH3CN to obtain various copper(II) complexes. The structures of these complexes were determined through X-ray crystallography. Evaluation showed that these compounds exhibited growth inhibitory activity against selected bacterial strains.

Formation of a new CuII-triazole ester complex from 1,2-cyclohexanedione-bis(p-bromobenzohydrazone) compound as a consequence of copper(II)-catalyzed click reaction

Ahmed Jasim M. Al-Karawi et al.

Summary: In this study, reaction between 1,2-cyclohexanedione-bis(p-bromobenzohydrazone) (CBB) and copper(II) nitrate trihydrate in acetonitrile at ambient conditions resulted in a mononuclear Cu(II) complex with distorted square planner geometry. The synthesized compound showed good antimicrobial activity against selected pathogenic bacteria. Analysis of crystal packaging using Hirshfeld surface analysis revealed the nature of intermolecular interactions in CBB and the Cu(II) complex.
