Thermophysical properties of 2-amino-2-methylpropan-1-ol + alkanol mixtures: Investigation of molecular interactions by insight of FT-IR spectroscopy

Sweety Verma et al.

Summary: In this study, the experimental data of dynamic viscosity (eta) and ultrasonic speed (u) for the binary mixture of 2-amino-2-methylpropan-1ol (AMP) and alkanol (C1-C3) were reported. The excess properties, including dynamic viscosity (Delta eta), speed of sound (Delta u), and excess isentropic compressibility (kappa ES), were determined using the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. The intermolecular interactions between the binary components were analyzed using Abinitio approach, and the FT-IR spectra confirmed the prevalent hydrogen bonding interactions between AMP and alkanol. The findings provide valuable information for designing effective CO2 absorption solvents based on AMP.

Thermodynamic study of mesitylene plus alkanol mixtures: Insights into molecular interactions

Sweety Verma et al.

Summary: Excess properties provide valuable insight into the intermolecular interactions in mixtures. This study analyzed the excess molar volume, excess isentropic compressibility deviation in ultrasonic speed, and refractive index for mixtures of mesitylene and alkanol to understand their intermolecular interactions. The results showed that the rupture of H-bonding in self-associated alkanol dominated over the electron donor-acceptor interaction between alkanol and mesitylene. The electron donor-acceptor interaction weakened with increasing temperature. Additionally, the behavior of molecular association parameter, free intermolecular length, and available volume supported these observations.

Thermodynamic modelling of density and viscosity data of binary mixtures of haloarenes with cyclohexane

Anshu Sharma et al.

Summary: This study experimentally measured the densities and dynamic viscosity of binary mixtures of haloarenes (2-chlorotoluene, 4-chlorotoluene, 1,3-dichlorobenzene) + cyclohexane at different temperatures and atmospheric pressure. The excess molar volume and deviation in dynamic viscosity were calculated and analyzed using various theories and models. The viscosity of the mixture increased with temperature due to the opening of interstitial voids. Predictions of viscosity and viscosity deviation were made using different correlations.
