Ice Recrystallization Inhibition Is Insufficient to Explain Cryopreservation Abilities of Antifreeze Proteins

Yuling Sun et al.

Summary: Antifreeze proteins and glycoproteins are effective in modifying ice crystal growth and inhibiting ice recrystallization, making them valuable for cold storage and cryopreservation of biological materials. In addition to high IRI activity, the capability to stabilize cell membranes is also important for increasing cell survival after cryostorage.
