Partial inclusion complex assisted crosslinked β-cyclodextrin nanoparticles for improving therapeutic potential of docetaxel against breast cancer

Sanyog Jain et al.

Summary: The study developed crosslinked beta-cyclodextrin nanoparticles for enhancing the therapeutic efficacy of docetaxel against breast cancer. The nanoparticles showed improved drug loading efficiency and demonstrated enhanced cellular uptake, cytotoxicity, and apoptosis in breast cancer cells. Pharmacokinetic evaluation revealed increased drug exposure and retention time, while anti-tumor activity in a cancer model showed significant reduction in tumor volume compared to the standard drug. Toxicity assessment indicated no short-term nephrotoxicity, suggesting the potential of the formulation strategy to improve the therapeutic effectiveness of docetaxel.

Developing Novel Hydroxypropyl-β-Cyclodextrin-Based Nanosponges as Carriers for Anticancer Hydrophobic Agents: Overcoming Limitations of Host-Guest Complexes in a Comparative Evaluation

Shohreh Peimanfard et al.

Summary: This study aimed to design and fabricate novel hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin-based hypercrosslinked polymers, called nanosponges, as carriers for anticancer hydrophobic agents and compare them with host-guest complexes of hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin. The results showed that the nanosponges had higher drug loading capacity and stronger anticancer effects.

Degree of crosslinking in β-cyclodextrin-based nanosponges and their effect on piperine encapsulation

Juan Guineo-Alvarado et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized beta-cyclodextrin nanosponges using microwave-assisted fusion for encapsulating Piperine. The degree of substitution and crystallinity increased with the concentration of diphenyl carbonate. Highly crosslinked nanosponges showed improved loading efficiency, demonstrating the feasibility of high-capacity encapsulation.

Crocetin Exerts a Cardio-protective Effect on Mice with Coxsackievirus B3-induced Acute Viral Myocarditis

Li Qin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that crocetin has a cardio-protective effect in an experimental murine model of acute viral myocarditis, increasing survival rates, reducing myocardial necrotic lesions, and inhibiting viral replication and inflammatory response. These findings suggest that crocetin may be a potential therapeutic agent for patients with viral myocarditis.
