Effective and rapid adsorption of uranium via synergy of complexation and cation-π interaction

Summary: A novel indole-based aerogel (HTPRA) with carboxyl groups was developed for uranium separation from aqueous solution. The adsorption was fast, pH-dependent, plateauing at pH 4-7.5 and independent of ionic strength. The maximum adsorption capacity of HTPRA for uranium was 899.9 mg g(-1). HTPRA showed satisfactory performance in real water samples and could be reused multiple times without significant loss in uptake capacity. The complexation and cation-pi interaction between HTPRA and uranium contributed to its unexpected adsorption capacity.

Synthesis of amino acid modified MIL-101 and efficient uranium adsorption from water

An imidazole functionalized porous organic polymer for the highly efficient extraction of uranium from aqueous solutions

Indole-functionalized cross-linked chitosan for effective uptake of uranium(vi) from aqueous solution

Summary: In this study, a novel indole-modified cross-linked chitosan aerogel (IAA-CTSA) was successfully synthesized by grafting 3-indoleacetic acid onto chitosan and adding glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agent. The IAA-CTSA demonstrated powerful adsorption capacity for U(vi) at pH 6.5, reaching equilibrium within 6 hours. The maximum capture capacity for U(vi) was calculated to be 847.5 mg g(-1) based on the Langmuir model at 289 K. IAA-CTSA showed pH-dependent removal efficiency for U(vi), while the ionic strength had no significant impact. Moreover, IAA-CTSA maintained above 80% removal efficiency after 4 successive cycles. The study suggests that IAA-CTSA has great potential for wastewater remediation.

Strategies toward the Synthesis of Advanced Functional Sorbent Performance for Uranium Uptake from Seawater

Summary: A novel luffa cylindrica adsorbent modified with carboxyl and amidoxime groups was successfully prepared and demonstrated effective U(VI) uptake. The adsorbent showed outstanding performance under optimal conditions and could be efficiently regenerated for repeated use.
